Say Yes Guilford Provides $1.3 million in Scholarship Funding in its Second Year
HIGH POINT AND GREENSBORO, NC (September 19, 2018) – During the 2017-18 school year, Say Yes Guilford contributed approximately $1.37 million in tuition scholarship funding to Guilford County Schools (GCS) graduates. The funding was provided to 938 students from the GCS classes of 2016 and 2017.
“The Say Yes Guilford Scholarship Board is excited about the opportunity to provide scholarship support to over 900 Guilford County students,” says Say Yes Guilford Scholarship Board Chair Robert Pompey. “We are so thankful to our donors and all of our partners for the role they play toward making the dream of a college education a reality for so many of our bright and talented Guilford County students.”
Since conception, the Guilford chapter of Say Yes to Education has provided $7.1 million in tuition-based scholarships to more than 3,000 graduates from Guilford County Schools. The scholarship program remains unchanged for the 2018-19 school year as the Guilford Chapter transitions to a locally owned and operated entity.
2017-18 Scholarship Facts
A total of $1,366,861 in Say Yes tuition scholarships were provided to 938 unique students. Of the total number of scholarship recipients, 556 (59.3%) were female and 382 (40.7%) were male.
