Quaintance-Weaver Pledges Partnership with Say Yes Guilford
GREENSBORO, NC (April 14, 2016) – Quaintance-Weaver Restaurants and Hotels, which manages O. Henry and Proximity Hotels and operates the Green Valley Grill, Print Works Bistro and Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen, has made a $62,500 underwriting pledge to Say Yes Guilford. This underwriting will allow Say Yes Guilford – the community-wide partnership that provides college and other postsecondary scholarships, as well as academic and non-academic support services, to Guilford County Schools’ students and graduates – to use Quaintance-Weaver hotels and restaurants to further the growth of Say Yes to Education in Guilford County.
Over the next three years of this partnership, Quaintance-Weaver Restaurants and Hotels will offset expenses Say Yes Guilford and the Say Yes national organization would have otherwise incurred as they seek to advance the objectives of Say Yes in Guilford County as well as strengthen the relationship between Say Yes and its various local stakeholders. Say Yes might, for example, use the underwriting to provide overnight lodging for education experts and others traveling from out of town to work with community members on the Say Yes Guilford project, or for local appreciation events for Say Yes volunteers, donors and Guilford County Schools’ students.
Nancy King Quaintance of Quaintance-Weaver Restaurants and Hotels says, “We are hopeful that our underwriting might inspire other area businesses to find creative ways to support the extraordinary, exciting efforts of Say Yes. At the end of the day, we hope Say Yes Guilford can leverage this gift to return an even greater value to Say Yes to Education than the face value of our pledge.”
Say Yes Guilford Executive Director Mary Vigue hopes the partnership is the first of many between Say Yes and businesses in the community. “We could not be more proud of our partnership with Quaintance-Weaver, a leader within the hospitality industry in Guilford County,” says Vigue. “We have long considered Dennis and Nancy King Quaintance to be visionaries in our community, and Say Yes Guilford is seeking partners like them who want to positively shape the future of our community. Hopefully, there are others in our business community who have the same desires and who see us as a conduit to the success they seek.”
Gene Chasin, the Chief Operating Officer of the Say Yes National organization, adds: “We are grateful to the entire team at Quaintance-Weaver. Their generosity will help us bring to Guilford County academic and other professionals drawn from across the country who can support and enhance the efforts of the Say Yes Guilford community partnership, as well as provide meeting and celebratory spaces for students and other community members at key moments in the process of building Say Yes’ first chapter outside the Northeast.”
