About the Task Forces
The task forces will review school data, identify issues related to student performance, and recommend changes designed to influence student success.
The three task forces include:
Family and Student Post-Graduation Opportunities and Engagement
The group will help to re-define success for families and students in ways that increase post-high school aspirations, including the goal of earning post-secondary education. Among the ways this group will cultivate opportunities is by focusing its efforts on families of sixth-graders and ninth-grade students – forging relationships based on achieving post-secondary opportunities. Measures of success include an increase in timely applications for college admission and completion of the FAFSA.
Pre-K to Grade 5
Working with our youngest learners, this group will focus on improving kindergarten readiness, along with the literacy and math rates of students by fifth grade. Among the ways this group will be measured is a successful increase in the performance of external assessments in grades 3 and 5.
AP and ACT Test Scores
This team is focused on improving student performance on AP and ACT exams. This task force will develop strategies that provide a higher level of support to Guilford County’s students of color, those in transition or living in poverty, and those who score below grade level on external assessments.
