About Say Yes to College
Transitioning from high school to college can be a daunting task for many students. However, planning for college starting in late elementary or middle school can be a successful first step that could make that transition easier. Guilford County Schools students and their parents/guardians are invited to learn more about aspiring to and attending college in Say Yes Guilford’s “Say Yes to College” program set for 5:30-7:30 pm on April 10 at Bennett College’s Global Learning Center, 507 Gorrell St.
High school students who are planning to attend college or those who are exploring the possibility will learn more about college expectations, creating a school/life balance, and understanding metrics for success. In addition, current high school seniors can complete their Say Yes scholarship registration and get help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) while at the event. For students in fourth through eighth grade and their parents, Say Yes Guilford has partnered with the Healthy Relationships Initiative in offering a workshop on how to have productive conversations about going to college.
The event is free to attend, but students and parents must register (see link at top of this page). The first 15 students who register will receive a complimentary professional career analysis, which helps to identify what career opportunities may exist for students based on their skills and abilities, from Pathways Career Testing. Door prizes, including an Amazon Fire tablet and laptop, will also be awarded.
