Recent Graduates, Say Yes Heading to DC to Meet First Lady


GREENSBORO, NC (June 18, 2016) – Two members of the Guilford County Schools class of 2016 are joining Say Yes Guilford as guests at First Lady Michelle Obama’s Reach Higher “Beating the Odds” Summit on Tuesday. Edward Jarrett (Middle College at A&T) and Juwan Wrenn (Southwest Guilford) are among 129 students from across the US joining the First Lady as well as major White House and Department of Education representatives, staff from organizations like Google and influencers like Tyler Oakley and Jidenna.

Jarrett and Wrenn will be joined by Say Yes Guilford’s Family and Student Engagement and Outreach Director Keith G. Pemberton at the Summit. “Beating the Odds” aims to also share tools and strategies for the students to be successful in their transition to college.
