Public Invited to Community Leadership Council Meeting Nov. 14
GREENSBORO, NC (November 2, 2016) – Say Yes Guilford is set to host its first Community Leadership Council meeting at 6 pm Monday, November 14 at GTCC Jamestown. The meeting, open to the public, provides the opportunity for Say Yes local and national staff and stakeholders to provide updates to the community on Say Yes Guilford programs, services and upcoming initiatives.
The Community Leadership Council is co-chaired by the mayors of Greensboro and High Point, the chairs of the Guilford County Board of Commissioners, Guilford County Board of Education and Say Yes Scholarship Board, along with two at-large representatives. Membership on the CLC is also extended to at large representatives from each of the municipal governing bodies in Guilford County, along with civic, philanthropic, economic development, faith, school (principals and teachers), parent and nonprofit leaders.
Guilford County Board of Commissioners Chair Jeff Phillips, who will serve as the lead co-chair for the meeting on November 14, says the first CLC meeting provides an opportunity for the greater public to connect with Say Yes. “Most Guilford County residents with high school age children have likely had some form of interaction with Say Yes Guilford due to the scholarship component,” says Phillips. “Through the Community Leadership Council, we have the opportunity to learn about all facets of Say Yes’ programming, including its scholarships, service provider efforts, and fundraising. It allows me personally to keep my finger on the pulse of the organization and creates an outlet where our residents and community members better understand the program.”
The November 14 meeting takes place in the auditorium on the main level of the Sears Applied Technologies Building on the GTCC Jamestown campus, 601 E. Main St., Jamestown. More information about the CLC is available online at www.sayyesguilford.org/clc.
