Resources

Say Yes Guilford is committed to providing valuable resources to Guilford County Schools system students starting at kindergarten and all the way to college. We will help connect students and families with the assistance they need to successfully deal with any number of challenges that could hinder their education performance. Plans are underway to line up these resources — check back for more details as this develops.

Guilford Parent Academy

Say Yes Guilford is here to connect students and families with resources so they can make good decisions about how to finance post-secondary education. Guilford Parent Academy will host a series of workshops that will answer parent questions and help with completing financial aid forms and scholarship applications.

Financial Aid

Every high school senior in the Guilford County Schools system will complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to determine the federal assistance the he or she may be eligible to receive for college.  Beginning October 1 2016, high school seniors graduating in Spring 2017 will be able to access the FAFSA form, and they should then complete it as soon as possible to meet North Carolina state deadlines. To complete a FAFSA, you may log onto the Federal Student Aid website.

About the Southwest Ticket Vouchers Program

Say Yes to Education has a partnership with Southwest Airlines to provide a limited number of free airline tickets to Say Yes eligible students to travel to any private college or university in the Say Yes Higher Education Compact located beyond North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Students must be currently enrolled in a GCS high school in order to be eligible for the flight voucher.

Round-trip student tickets and adult guardian tickets (limit one adult guardian ticket per student ticket) are available for Say Yes eligible students who have arranged to visit a college or university in the Say Yes National Higher Education Compact. Please note that the free round-trip tickets can only be applied to travel to private compact institutions located outside of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. To apply for an airline ticket, students must provide confirmation from the institution of an official scheduled tour, information session or appointment.

*GCS Seniors must utilize flight vouchers prior to January 1st due to application deadlines for most schools within our Say Yes Higher Education Compact being January 1st.

A Say Yes eligible student and his/her guardian may receive ONE free round-trip ticket per calendar year. Tickets must be requested at least 6-8 weeks prior to desired date of travel. Say Yes will notify you when your Ticket Request Form has been received and approved. You will then receive instructions on next steps. You will be asked to complete a form during your college visit and submit it to Say Yes following your trip.

Tickets are limited and are provided to eligible students on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Please check back later to fill out the Ticket Request Form. Please note, this information will be used for flight booking (if eligible), so please assure all details are accurate. Also, you are asked to provide your “Preferred Airport Arrival Code”. This should be the airport (with a Southwest Airlines hub) that is closest to the school you are visiting, please click here for a list of codes.

If you have any questions, please email guilford@sayyestoeducation.org. Thank you!
