Say Yes Guilford Scholarship Program Coordinator

Job Summary:

This position focuses on supporting the Director of Postsecondary Access and Success, managing scholarship operations, and communicating with Say Yes’s higher education partners.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

SCHOLARSHIP PROCESSING AND ADMINISTRATION

  • Assist Director with administration: enters data, prepares reports, compiles information, correspondence, and other materials; files documents and maintains filing system (paper and shared electronic files); posts information to records; updates distribution lists; etc.
  • Use EScholarship to develop numerous data tracking reports, including enrollment rosters, scholarship disbursement rosters, and student and college certification reports
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding privileged student, department and agency information.
  • Assist Director with creating and upholding the most efficient scholarship disbursement policies and procedures
  • Serve as liaison to The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro: prepare disbursement rosters and ensure student funding is sent to colleges in a timely manner
  • Communicate with partner colleges (financial aid, admissions, and business offices) to verify student eligibility, enrollment, satisfactory academic progress reports, etc.
  • Answer calls and questions concerning Say Yes Guilford’s scholarship opportunities
  • Communicate with school counselors as needed to verify student information
  • Facilitate local chapter’s application process for Say Yes Southwest Voucher program

 

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

  • Work with public high schools located in Guilford County in support of college fairs, college access, and financial aid events
  • Conduct community presentations on completing college applications and applying for financial aid
  • Assist with event coordination for Say Yes Guilford

Education Requirements

Associates degree or bachelor’s degree required

Preferred field of study to include Higher Education, Student Affairs, Education, Non- Profit, or Business Management

Experience Requirements

At least 2-4 years of experience in project management, financial aid, or college access related work

Experience in higher education administration, student affairs, education policy, and/or financial aid (including state and federal programs) preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Mastery of Microsoft office suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, etc
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel along with formulas and analyze data
  • Ability to adapt to, learn and use systems (Escholarship, phone, etc)
  • Exemplary communication skills, including comfort with public speaking venues
  • Ability to communicate effectively with young people and adults from diverse backgrounds
  • Capacity to organize and supervise assigned projects with integrity
  • Must maintain and uphold professional standards of both behavior and dress
  • Ability to resolve problems creatively, efficiently, effectively and independently
  • Ability to work independently as well as with direction
  • Extraordinary attention to detail
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete required background screenings: criminal and driving
